In November 2015, I had decided it was time to improve both my mental and physical well-being. I started my weight loss journey in January 2016 by simply changing my eating habits and moving more, but by mid-August, I had hit a plateau. I had already lost 85 pounds and I knew I needed to do something new to fire myself back up. My good friend Jill who was already a FIT member at Farrell’s had been trying to get me to join for several months, but it just hadn’t worked out yet. The fall 2016 session seemed like the perfect time to join and give myself the focus needed for this type of program. I figured the program could help get me manage my weight loss journey through Thanksgiving and to the end of the year. I had a goal of losing 100 pounds before the end of the year and toning up some of my flabby areas and Jill was adamant that this was the program for me.
Within the first two weeks, I could already tell my clothes were fitting looser around my mid-section. My body was getting toned and I was getting stronger. By week-5 testing, I was shocked to see my sit-ups in a minute more than double, same for pushups, and I cut over two minutes off my mile. I never thought it would be possible to gain so much strength in such a short amount of time. I even challenged my 15-year-old son Cole to a pushup contest the other day and he was quite surprised at how well I did against him (he still won though).

I am absolutely in love with the Farrell’s program! I look forward every day to going to class, and that’s not something I thought I would ever say. Everyone is so encouraging and friendly and it’s such a positive environment. Not everyone has the same Level 10 and that’s ok. The instructors are always changing the workouts up and I love that! I leave there every day after the workout feeling energized and ready to start my day. Before I even reached the week 5 testing, I had already signed up for another year membership. I knew this program was something I was going to have in my life for quite some time.
My most memorable moment so far was the 6am workout on Thanksgiving Day. I’ve never seen so many people dedicated to a workout on a holiday. There were so many people there that Maryssa had to go in the back and get extra bands. Everyone loved the turkey tutu I wore that day :) This place feels like a second family to me. You see some of these people every day and it’s great having something in common with so many dedicated individuals. Oh and I love Fun Fridays and Wacky Wednesdays!
At the week 5 mark, I had lost 10 pounds,* which brought me within five pounds of losing 100 pounds total, which was a main goal of mine. Before joining Farrell’s, the only thing I focused on was the scale, but I’ve learned there is so much more to it than that. It’s the muscle you gain, the toning of your body, how your clothes fit, how much more energy you have, how much stronger you become. I look at my overall health much differently now.
My goal was to win the 10-Week Challenge for the Fall 2016 class. There is some tough competition out there and I can see that everyone is giving it their all. Going in, my main goal was to get to my 100 pounds lost mark and improve the overall tone of my body, as well as getting stronger. I’m excited to say that I accomplished my goal and was the $1,000 winner for our 10-week challenge!

My favorite quote goes: No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch.
For those thinking about joining Farrell’s, do it! Sign up yesterday! You will be amazed at the things you can accomplish in such a short amount of time. It only takes 45 minutes, 3% of your day! You are worth it! You will never feel more proud of yourself for what you are capable of doing each and every day.
