I Hold My Head Up High Because of Farrell’s!




My journey with Farrell’s began in January 2011. This was when I started my 10-week session. I was excited and just knew this was the answer I was looking for. In some ways, that was very true. I was getting great workouts and learning how to eat like my body needed me to. I had a successful 10-weeks and lost around 14 pounds.* I went on to sign up for FIT for one year. Days and weeks passed and I gradually started attending class less and less and eventually I just quit altogether. This was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. 


Cynthia Before FarrellsOver the course of the next five years I worked out occasionally and tried some fad diets here and there. Some things lasted for a few weeks and on rare occasions, a couple of months. I became increasingly unhappy with myself, but would never own up to the true problem. Instead I began eating my feelings and suppressing the real reasons I was unhappy. During this time, my mom also became very ill and passed away. This sent me even further into my downward spiral, but it took me quite a while to realize it.

Fast forward to January 2016. I did it . . . I made the decision to join Farrell’s once again and go through the new 10-week session. This time I vowed it would be different. I knew that I was out of options and needed to get control of my life again. So, my new journey began, nearly 50 pounds heavier than I began five years earlier.

Week one was the beginning of my transformation. My coach, Jaime, paired me up with a partner for kickboxing each day that week. At first I was a little nervous because I am a pretty shy person. How on earth was I going to workout with this really fit person and not be embarrassed?? You know what, the FIT members were incredible! They were so willing to teach, encourage and motivate me. I felt like I had made new friends and it was just week one. This continued for the next few weeks and day after day I could feel the new me emerging. I started talking to others and making new friends and accountability partners. This was so different than my previous experience where I stood in the back corner, worked out and went home – if I didn’t talk to anyone then there would be no one that missed me if I skipped class.

As my 10-week session came to an end, I was seeing some good results so I signed up for one year of FIT again. I knew the results would continue to come if I followed the program. Weeks and months passed by and I could tell that I was changing. I started standing closer to the front of the room and I found myself partnering with new people more frequently. What was happening to me? Had I finally learned to come out of my shell? YES!!!! What I didn’t know is that this mental transformation was going to help me with my physical transformation. I found myself working harder in class and pushing myself to a whole new Level 10. I also found myself talking to others about nutrition and finding new recipes to try out. That was a pretty big leap for this extremely picky eater!

January 2017 started a new 10-week session and this time I was stepping way outside of my comfort zone and coaching one group of new 10-week students. I mentally prepared myself that this was going to be one of my biggest challenges yet. I was so nervous about being the person who these students would look to for advice and help. What I did know is that the head coach had faith in my abilities and I was not going to let her or the eight new students I was coaching down. What I didn’t know is that this session would be my biggest transformation to date. Being front and center with these new students has been so inspiring to me. While watching them push harder and eat better, I found that I was more motivated than ever to continue my own transformation. I was going to finish this year of FIT with a bang!

And that’s what I did. After my 10-week session and one year of FIT, I have had some awesome physical results. I am down over 70 pounds, 15% body fat and 43 inches.* I screamed and did a little happy dance in the fitting room when I could buy pants in a size I had not seen since high school. Over the last year, I have had to replace my entire wardrobe. While it wasn’t cheap . . . it feels AMAZING!!

Cynthia Today_Farrells Omaha R PlazaAlthough the physical results are great, they are not what I treasure most about this journey. What I treasure the most is the mental transformation I have made. I feel like a whole new person. I have energy, I sleep better, I am happier and my self-confidence is evident in everything I do. For the first time in a long time, I hold my head high when I walk in a room and I have learned to accept a compliment and not just shrug it off. But more importantly, I feel confident enough to share my journey with others in hopes of helping them begin their own journey.

As I finish up this year and start my second year as a FIT member, I can honestly say that I know I am right where I belong . . . at FXB180, with owners, coaches, instructors and members that care about one another. With people who will hold me accountable and push me to new levels, both mentally and physically, day in and day out. I belong with my FXB FAMILY!!!
