Sticking with Farrell’s!




Amy and Ron_MarathonFarrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping . . . we thought, “How is this exercise program going to be any different?” We had tried multiple gyms, training for a half marathon, and yet nothing seemed to stick for more than a few months. We did complete the half marathon, but had not run much since!


A friend had signed-up and was in the middle of his first 10-Week Challenge and was already seeing fabulous results! He hadn’t been a person that was interested in exercise in the past, not to mention some sort of organized exercise (just ask him, but he is still going strong as a Farrell’s FIT Member for more than six months). We thought, if he can do it, we CAN DO IT! After all, we just ran a half marathon.   

Amy and RonOh, how wrong we were! If you think Farrell’s is “just another exercise class”, you have another thing coming! It also teaches you about nutrition and a healthier way of eating. Teaching you a way of eating that makes you feel like you are NOT on a diet, but rather a sustainable way of eating for the long haul. Not only are the kickboxing and strength training workouts challenging and fun, but the people you meet are fantastic! The support we all give each other is almost overwhelming at times. The group holds you accountable when you miss a workout, motivates you when you are having a tough workout, and celebrates with you when you hit a milestone; or maybe they just give you a high five after we have just made it through a tough workout. Many of these people have become friends outside of Farrell’s and are like family! Because of these friends we have now started doing 5K races and mud runs again. It’s so much fun to do things as a group! Exercise can be fun! 

Farrell’s has shown us that we can do something and stick with it! We love it because it’s something we can do together. In the past, we were not morning people! But when that alarm goes off at 5:29 AM, we jump out of bed. Okay, maybe not jump, but we get out. Working out six days a week seems like a lot, but we have found if we don’t we don’t have the same level of energy throughout the day. We feel better both physically and mentally. Ron was able to get off of one medication and cut another medication in half. He hopes to be off his medications completely by year-end. 

We won’t be leaving Pete and all the folks at Farrell’s Bettendorf anytime soon! After our initial 10 weeks, we signed-up for a year and haven’t regretted it once!
