FXB Grimes Member Receives Life-Saving Kidney Transplant; Community Rallies in Support

Grimes, IA – On Friday, April 11, Kari Eddy, a long-time member of Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping (FXB) Grimes, received the call she had been waiting for—an available kidney was ready for transplant. With only 13.5 hours to arrive at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Kari and her family quickly mobilized for the life-saving procedure.

The call with the good news came through the FXB network in an unexpected way. A staff member at the Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping corporate office reached out to owner, Nicole Grethen, to help locate Kari, who had just finished a fitness class. Thanks to quick-thinking and the strength of the member community, Kari was notified immediately and connected with her husband, who delivered the life-changing news.

Kari shared, “I was happy to have my FXB friends surrounding me when I took the call. I was supposed to be there at that moment.”

The FXB Grimes community has once again stepped up in support. Members are now raising funds to help cover food, lodging, and travel expenses for Kari’s extended four-week stay during recovery. FXB Grimes has pledged to match donations up to $200.

April is National Donate Life Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about organ, eye, and tissue donation. Kari’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the life-saving impact of donation and the hope it brings to families across the country.

This event also underscores the unique and supportive culture within the Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping community. FXB is more than just a fitness program—it’s a family that stands together during life’s biggest moments. Whether it’s celebrating milestones or supporting members through personal challenges, the FXB community continues to demonstrate the true meaning of strength and connection.
